Anne Jackson will discuss the background and development of ‘The Witchcraft Series’. She researches historic witch-trials and prosecutions in the UK and across Europe, and transforms the resulting narratives  into knotted tapestries, textile artworks of great intricacy and richness, which also reflect upon our modern-day fears and concerns.

WITCH

Thursday 12 October | 7:30pm | £7/£5 concessions

Circle of Spears Productions presents WITCH, an acclaimed original historical drama by Tracey Norman which is based on extensive research into witch trials and actual witch trial transcripts. It follows destitute healer Margery Scrope, who must face her accuser, Thomas Latimer, and the local magistrate Sir William Tyrell, to defend herself. Tyrell listens to both sides of the story before deciding whether the case should proceed to trial. Has Margery really 'bewitched' Latimer's children, or is there a darker purpose behind his accusation? Ultimately, whatever has happened, a woman's life is on the line.
